Pasty Butt

I am new to this but have read everything on chickens that I can find and one of my chicks only 3 days old had a dark spot on its butt and so I just held her in my hand under the warm water and washed it away and then she had a big poop. She was very quiet and seemed to enjoy the water.

Use a Q-Tip and put just a dab of olive oil on her vent, this will help with stool build up. The olive oil doesn't give it a chance to stick to her down.

I've only noticed it in the first couple of weeks. Haven't had any problems after that.
