Penis prolapse

since noticing it I ask a duck friend and they said it's his penis and it should resolve itself.

I overlooked this part of your post - This will not resolve itself.

I'm still a little worried.

This can be fatal.

I think cause it’s dark and hard it’s been out for Awhile
Unfortunately it’s probably going to need to be cut off
I have had one have a smaller prolapse but luckily I caught it right away and was able to keep it moist and clean till it went back up on its own
But I a friend had one not so lucky and she had ti cut it off
Her boy is fine and it’s been months

I know you aren't asking me, but I removed my drake's penis. It was kind of scary, but a lot easier than I thought it would be.

FYI: A prolapse that bad will probably make him sterile since he can no longer reach through a twisty duck ovaduct.

I know it seems like there is no way you could do this.

But if you are in a situation where you can't afford to take to a vet, please listen to casportpony, it sounds like they are willing to walk you through the whole process. Everyone here is super willing to help, especially if they have experienced the same problem.

I tried to stretch it out and it started to bleed a little. I have been soaking him in warm Epson salt baths daily. I will try to take a pic tomorrow. Some black parts have fallen off but still alot of black

I had to remove a portion of my drake’s phallus, as well. I’m linking to the post in hopes it can help you. It seems scary, but it’s not difficult at all. You can do it!

[A little Daffy]

Well, I certainly never thought I would need a thread like this.

A Drake Muscovy got into our garage (we feed about 5 of them in the am) the other day and my dog just happened to be there and grabbed him near the backend. When he got free I noticed his penis out and after about 6 days now it's still out. Yesterday I noticed it was a little darker red/pink than it first was, and of course a little more dry.
I had no idea you could cut it off! How in the world would you do that? Wouldn't they bleed out?
Also, do you (anybody) think if I captured him and put him in our outdoor pen (8x12) that he would get depressed and get more ill instead of letting him try to heal on his own?
