I am devastated. I got home from my grandparent and heard the chickens bawling very loud. I ran back to the pen and saw a chicken huddled in a corner. Her face had been so destroyed, I couldn't recognize who she was. I then discovered it was my sweet girl Fuzzy Bum. Fuzzy Bum is the toughest and fastest girl I know. She regularly flies out of the pen the eat the grass outside. She had been attacked in our bush, but she escaped and flew back in the pen. I looked for footprints and saw large dog footprints, leading to my neighbours house. My neighbour lets her large husky mix dog loose on a daily biases. This is the second chicken she has got. Since Fuzzy Bum is such a trooper, she made it through the night. She is very tired and cuddles her face into her back feathers. So, she was hurt pretty bad. Her beak is gone, her eyes are swollen shut and she has a small hole where her ear used to be. The bleeding seems to have stopped, but her berthing is somewhat heavy(Sorry for the bad quality picture)

. I know that I need a miracle, but so many people have been praying for Her. Anything is possible with God. Here is my question, what can I do to help her? She is isolated from the other chickens. How do I give her water or food?? I don't want to dip her beak in some water and then have the bleeding start again. Any suggestions are welcome. I'm desperate. I lover her so much <3

Fuzzy Bum is doing great and is enjoying the beautiful weather outside. She loves digging in the garden and finding worms and bugs to eat. Every day when I come home from work, she races to my car. (I have to be careful when backing in the drive way lol) I always bring her home a treat since I work in a restaurant. Her favourite snack at the moment is pepper seeds :p what a silly girl.
Look at the pictures of her neck feathers!!! I don't know how she grooms them to get them to look so fancy. Haha. Fuzzy Bum wants to be Fuzzy Neck. Sorry girl, Fuzzy Bum is your forever name <3

Thanks guys <3 she is a Plymouth Rock chicken. I have to share the cutest story with you. Every night, Fuzzy Bum comes into the house. She kept on wanting to perch up on my dads' hockey bag, but he said no because he didn't want her to poop on it. I kept on wondering why she insisted on going up there all the time. I then realized what she wanted. The hockey bag was in front of my bedroom door. And my bedroom door is covered with pictures of my chickens. I held her up to the door and she looked right at them and started talking to them. She especially liked to look at one of her best friends Darling, who died a while ago. She still remembered who Darling was. Fuzzy Bum is so happy when she is by the door. Here are some pictures.

Look who has a boyfriend!!!!!!!! "Bowzer" likes to protect Fuzzy Bum, and follow her wherever she goes. He is her escort when she makes the trip to our side door to ask for food. He helps us know that they are there by crowing very loudly. Fuzzy Bum doesn't even mind sharing some of her food with him. Bowzer has one working eye that he can see out of. So he can relate to Fuzzy Bum's way of life, having to re-adjust after a hardship. (Bowzer is about 2 years younger than Fuzzy Bum. She must like the younger men, lol

Aren't they the perfect couple?

Can’t believe I’m just seeing this! My BR pullet Jazz lost the bottom part of her beak 2 months ago and I’ve kept her around by feeding her wet feed! She can now eat out of a bowl by herself! Such a great story that Fuzzy Bum made it! :yesss: My girl is getting better each day, people told me she wouldn’t make it a week but she’s still going strong and being a normal chicken for the most part! :wee

I had something similar happen to one of my RIR hens and it took a wile for her to learn how to eat again but it is possible.....

I gave my hen Turkey Grow, chick feed and laying mash and rice that is about all she will ever be able to eat ......

But for right now give her some hard boiled egg's pealed and mashed with a fork she will love this and one a day for a week should really help her out ......

Guess what today is guys??? It has been three weeks today since Fuzzy Bum's accident. And she has been improving :) Here are some more pictures of Fuzzy Bum. I take these pictures when she is most alert, in the morning. If I don't feed her her scrambled eggs fast enough in the morning she gets SO loud :p she wakes up everyone in the house. she can be impatient, haha, but I love her so much. The other day, I was giving her some v8 juice with a syringe, and some of it must have got on her beak. Because one of the other chickens bit her lower beak. Fuzzy Bum lost a lot of blood from her beak, but it clotted. Actually, I was wondering if it was God who intervened, helping Fuzzy Bum's lower beak more even with her top. So now I think it will be easier for her to eventually learn to eat on her own, which she still can't. We have ordered the chicken nipples online, but they still haven't come in. Thanks again everyone for your help! Me and fuzzy bum wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for all of you amazing people. Fuzzy bums favorite foods are bread and scrambled egg. I wonder if I can convince my mom into buying sardines for her. Fuzzy bum is spoiled, but deserves to be after all she has been through. I will try to give her some creamed corn. We are even praying for fuzzy bum at my church :) @gander007 Thank you for the picture of your beautiful girl. It does give me hope :) The picture where fuzzy bums beak is open is because she had a yawn :)

Fuzzy Bum is doing so good :) she still can't eat it drink in her own, but the scrambled egg and sardines I'm feeding her has been giving her more energy. This morning, while she was in the basement, I was cooking her scrambled egg upstairs in the kitchen. Apparently I wasn't cooking it fast enough, because she started flying up the stairs. She then walked into the kitchen and looked up at me as if saying "what is taking you so long? I'm hungry!!" She is such a cutie :) that puffy pocket on the side of her beak is looking much better. Fuzzy Bum is doing much better :) thanks everyone!! <3.
