Hi! 😊 I know it's probably way too early to tell yet, but I thought I'd post some photos of our gorgeous 8 chicks we hatched under our broody Rhode Island Red x Colombian Blacktail girl, who is being an excellent first time mother to them. There are 6 Polish chicks and two Lavender Pekin chicks. So in love with all of them and their gorgeous colourings! 😍 As with all our chickens, we've stuck with the theme of biscuits for their names, although have started branching out into other sweet treats as we're running out of names. 🤣
A photo of each of them from the front and side taken today at 14 & 15 days old and a comparison to when they were 1 & 2 days old. I've noticed a couple of them seem to be developing wattles already. Does it seem like Rocky could well be a boy? 🐔If anyone is interested, I'll be happy to keep the thread updated as they get older. 🥰
Thank you! ☺️

The Polish are much too young to tell the gender. You can only sex Polish at about sixteen weeks old, as they mature a bit slowly and the crest is tricky. Penguin is a pullet and Rocky is a very obvious cockerel.
Thanks for your reply! Rocky is the only one we were certain on. 🤣 First time owning Polish and I'm already loving their funny little characters. 🥰

Polish are indeed hilarious! Their crest gets in the way with their vision and mine stare at a lot of things just trying to see whatever it is. And they can't find each other half of the time.

Madeline and Marie look like hens to me. Others are unclear. The more poofy and round the crests stay as they age the more likely they are hens. The cockerels will start to look more untidy as they get older.
