Possums and skunks

We had to put down a skunk and possum this week. Is this unusual in one week?

Not unusual. I'd keep an eye out for more of each if I were you.

Not to mention that I’m teaching my kids to use everything and learn to preserve and can and farm. Call me old fashioned I’m okay with it

The chickens ate the skunk extra protein, right?

1. Don't touch a skunk. They can carry rabies which you can get by handling the skunk.
2. Bury the skunk as quickly as possible. It will help with the odor elimination.

I would not feed a skunk to my poultry because:
a. I don't want my poultry smelling like a skunk.
b. I don't want my poultry to possibly contract a disease.

Check the liver. If an animal has rabies it will show in the liver and you will know if they carry it by behavior . I’m not ignorant I know my stuff but to each their own
