Very nice! I have been seeing a lot of white, but not many brown. I love the rich color of the browns ... did I see a black also?

I wouldn't worry about it unless one hen looks very lethargic.

Here is Sammie or Sam. She or he is our 5 month old brown leghorn. We are new to BYC and are awaiting for our hens to start laying.

Well the picture didn't display. I was.hoping to get some opinions on the sex. We.hope she is a hen but will keep her either way because she is such a sweet chicken.

I vote pullet. The colors on a male are very different. Also, she has female feathers.

So, pullet x2!!!

I've had bloody eggs from time to time with no issues at all, but in one instance, the hen had a prolapse. Have you checked to see if everyone's anatomy is normal? My hen showed no signs of any health issues ... I just happened to be behind her when she went bottom up to catch a bug.and I noticed it.
