puffing up and looking like a little turkey

I have a little bantam hen that evey once in a while will puff up and she puffs up so much she looks like a little mini turkey. Does anyone have any idea what she is saying? This happens when they are waiting in the line for the nest to lay their eggs. It really looks cute, and funny too.

Is she growling or clucking? She may be trying to tell the other hens to get out of "her" nest.

She is usually pretty quiet. and depending on who is on the nest. There is one bantam that is very vocal when she is on the nest and the others are "waiting"

You may be right on that one. I do have one bantam that is sitting on the community nest right now, but my buff orphington is trying to sit on the nest too. and everyday there are new bantam eggs in that nest. So you may be right on that one.
