You won't see rooster specific feathering until around 10-12 weeks. The coloring is more indicative of male though, as they tend to have more splashy and uneven coloration than females.Darn! Was hoping there was a chance he was a pullet given the rounded neck feathers coming in. Thank you!
I believe so. That's a lot of red in the face for 6 weeks. Also look at the thickness of the legs.So here he is at 6 weeks…still thinking cockerel??
Cockerels are actually usually the "friendliest"/boldest, so that's a little different.Ugh I agree. His wattles have grown a lot. He’s also very skittish compared to the pullet. I don’t know if that’s a gender thing or a breed thing but he’s hard to catch!
Maybe the older ladies have already put him in his place, so he's not being uppity. *shrug*That’s what I expected so I’ve been a little confused. We are with our chickens a lot and handle them and he runs around scared.
