My Coop
My Coop
I just have a quick questions. My neighbor had a small flock of 6, we let 2 go broody and I got 10 chicks. The 2 mommies and the babies have been living in my coop for quite some time, I would like to add a few more to the mix but it's time for mommies to go home. The question I have is, can we just put the mommies back with the old flock, or is there some way to re-introduce them. I figured they'd be fine since the 6 grew up together, but I want to make sure that they will remember their old friends.

thanks for any advice,
Andrew

They should be fine as they have already met the bird. Their are also the people who separate the broody and just put the bird back in the coop with no problems.

There will probably be some squabbling when the moms are put back with their old flock mates, but it shouldn't be major. Just a reminding who is who and who is dominate to who.
