Red Feathers on Shoulders of 2.5 Week Old Easter Egger. Does this mean it's a boy?

Hello!

I have read in several places that red feathers on the shoulders of an Easter Egger means that it will most likely be a boy, and I have noticed some reddish feathers growing on the shoulders of my 2.5 week old Easter Egger that is supposed to be a pullet. It is also noticeably bigger than the other chicks of different breeds. I'm really hoping it's not a boy because my city doesn't allow the keeping of roosters. I would be very sad to rehome it as it is a very sweet bird.

Anyways, can some chicken owners that are more experienced than myself tell me whether or not they think it is a boy or a girl? Even if you aren't certain, your input would be greatly appreciated. I attached some pictures of the bird for you to look at. Thanks!

EE’s are just mixes, so there is really no way to know for certain. At least that’s what I have heard and experienced.

Update in 4-5 weeks and we’ll help you sex more accurately.

I see! It sounded like an odd way to sex them, so I wasn't certain. I will update in a few weeks.

It's very young but with the vibrancy and location of those feathers I would lean towards cockerel although nothing is set in stone yet!
