We going to can corn this weekend and be working on reducing flock next week.
Big bad teenager Cockerel picked a fight with old cock "Bob white" and got his
lesson in manners . I have separated him to recover and Bob is non to happy either
as he considered himself a lover not a fighter .

Picklng, canning, jelling, etc. soooo much to do and getting old to boot. It is terrible to want to do so much and not have the energy to do it anymore. Or is it the days are getting shorter.

Heard the dogs barking out at the peach trees this AM and there was a Possum in the trap and 4 un bitten peaches out of two trees that were loaded this year . Was going to pick and can /freeze this week .

One big Boar Possum is now in Happy peach hunting heaven.

Next year we put the Enet up around the two trees.

Doing Sweet cherry/ blue berry jam today. Maybe Plum too.

My plum tree went and died on me a couple of yrs ago. I can't make up my mind what kind I want to plant in its place now. I am considering one of those combination ones. You know the ones with red ones for jelly and the sweet big yellow Shiro for eating. The Shiros are like honey. They get frosted on here about every third yr or so. I will decide this fall and plant then. Today its peach jam from some Ga. peaches I bought. They have wonderful peaches there. Next wk it will be green beans. The Mtn white runners I hope will be ready. This yr. the rain has made them late and the tomatoes too. I just picked my first small tomato today. Thats way late even for us in the mtns.

I put up corn, tomatoes, salsa, pasta sauce, chow chow, peach jam & blueberry jam so far. thinking about putting up pepper jelly.
