Secondary feathers on chics?

How long is it supposed to be before chics start growing their secondary feathers? Mine are 5 days old, and they seem to have started to sprout them on day 3. I've never had chics before this, but it sure seems like they're growing awefully fast.....

That sounds right. They will sprout baby feathers and be pretty much covered by them when they are 6 or 8 weeks old, then their first set of adult feathers will come in and they will keep that till fall moult. They loose their chick fluff pretty fast, some breeds faster than others.

Mine are a week and a half today and they are growing their tail feathers and have full wings now, so yours sound right on track.
