Sexing Buff Orpingtons

Have two buff orpingtons that hatched around July 24th. I was thinking they are girls. But I have witnessed chick 2 mounting the other but only in the evenings when they are penned for the night. There mother did abandon them at 4 weeks so I don't know if that has something to do with it. One hatched a couple days ahead of the other.

Those are both males.

Darn! Was wanting females. Can you tell me how you know they are males so I can learn to sex them as I have more hatching right now.

The longer feathered/tailed ones ended up being the cockerels!
Oh that's so good to hear on my part! I had a very small hatch of 4 orpingtons and only one is feathering up with long wing and a tail feathers! I'd be gutted if I ended up with 90% Roo's!!

Fingers crossed!

Hi all I know it's prob way too early to tell but just wondering if anyone has any hunches on gender of these little guys. They're 3week old orpingtons. Lemon cuckoo, blue splash and gold laced. We'd obviously love girls
