Hey everyone!
I know it may be a little early to tell but I have five 4 week old Light Sussex chicks that I’m trying to work out the gender of.
I was told that they’re pure light Sussex but reading through some other threads I’m not 100% sure now as 2 out of 5 have more yellow legs than the pink/white legs of the other 3.
My 2 year old son has named them so forgive the name choices but we have:
Bob - I suspect pullet (white legs)
Doug - I suspect pullet (white legs)
Butter - I suspect pullet (white legs)
Itsy Spider - I strongly suspect cockerel (yellowish legs)
Nugget - I am undecided, leaning pullet but could be either (yellowish legs)
It may be worth noting that Itsy Spider is most definitely the slowest to feather and certainly displays some very typical cockerel/rooster behaviours.
The other 4 all have black markings on the top of their heads (I have attached a photo of Nugget showing these marks). Not sure if this is related at all but Itsy Spider is the only one that does not have the same markings
Can anyone help me out to let me know if I’m thinking correctly.
Thanks in advance!
