Show off your roosters

Thank you!

For the sake of showing off, I have to show you Big Papa... Little Mister doesn't hold a candle!

These are old pictures taken about 3 months ago. He's terribly camera shy (so modest!), so it's tough to get him all big and pretty! :)

MrsB

haha nice. big papa

He's beautiful! How long did it take for his colors to come out?

BCM color in by degrees, and some males can take up to two years to color in completely. Wade Jeanne are notorious for taking their time to color in. He is a different line, and was about 8 months in the above photo.

In his line, we knew he was male at birth (wide nose bridges on the males, small, black bridges on the females) and he started getting flecks of color in the different areas by 8 weeks, below. He was the older juvie. The younger male was 1 month. By 6 months, it often becomes apparent how a cockerels's colors are balanced.

Mine is about 5 months old and is still mostly black with some gold coming in his cape. He has a beautiful sheen to his feathers, but a lousy tail. :(

At 5 months, there's still plenty of time for his tail to improve.
