My fiance bought me two young Silkies as pullets for me this summer and looking at one of them their comb is going a mulberry color and has gotten larger than the other one.
These are Bantam non-TSC Silkies I had one from TSC and he was as large as my standard sized chickens.
I also think the lighter silkie is a cockerel but look for streamers coming out of the crest when it is fully formed that’s a sure indicator of a silkie cockerel.
thats awesome. Hoping he is a sweetheart once his hormones kick in. Right now he is in with my OEGBs 1 is a rooster, a bunch of young cornish 5/6 are cockerels and cuckoo marans 2/5 are cockerels so lets hope he will be well balanced, and a bunch of young Guinea fowl who are about 2 weeks away from a mass move into adult flock.
Large breeds will be moved once they are either freezer weight or large enough for adult flock.
