Silver Laced Wyandotte - Pullet or Roo? -- June 13th- 8 WEEKS OLD- new photos

Just wanting to check if you all think this SLW is a pullet? After comparing to the other pics here I'm pretty sure but want the input of more experienced chicken owners!

Agreed...I'd say pullet too. Wyandottes throw people off cause they have a rose comb that can be redder and fatter than the typical single comb many hens have. Mine all ended up being pullets but a few guessed they were roos initially!

So a few weeks ago I posted pictures of my hatchery SLW chickens on a different thread and was told they were roosters but after reading this I'm not sure anymore what does everyone think they are now 10 wks old, I have 3 but only two confuse me!

I'm like 99% sure they're pullets. They would have way more red by now if they were roos.

Agreed. I've never had any roos (but many times I have thought I did). Keep watching...one can never be TOO sure too soon. Good Luck. Vickery

Here is that little roo at 4 weeks. Still does not have a whole lot of feathers but his waddles are coming in really nicely and both them and his comb are getting really red.

Another example of a pullet the same age. Note the difference in coloring, the bottom one has a lot more white on here but still a girl.


The little roo is a really good example of a young one. I will keep posting every week. From here on out I may only post pic of him since Im pretty sure most know by now what a pullet should look like. If you guys want me to continue to post the pics of the girls just let me know.

This gives me SO much hope! I have 3 GLWs, and I have been convinced at least 2 of them are boys. Mainly because of the red combs. But they are now 6 weeks and the combs and wattles are nowhere near as developed as your boy! They look more like your first pullet
