Sleeping/Hanging out on TOP of brooder plate?

Pretty normal for them to no longer sleep under it as they no longer need quite as warm temperatures, so it's a good thing. Mine usually start migrating to the top (I use a heating pad so it's a bit different) at around 2 weeks and they're off heat by 4 weeks.

I have 2 chicks (in a plastic brooder bin) with an induction plate for warmth. They seem to prefer the topside to sleeping under the plate? Is this behavior indicative that they are too warm? Or preference? I honestly can’t tell. They will both go under the plate from time to time, but definitely spend more time topside. They are 3 weeks old and I’ve raised the plate 3 times so far (one extra increment of raising because I noticed they seemed to prefer the top of the plate to the bottom, thought maybe too warm?)
Thoughts, advice?

My 5 week old chicks are doing this. Going to raise their plate tomorrow and add some roosting bars for them. We’ll see how they like the change!

My chicks liked to spend time on top of the plate too. I think it is roosting behavior kicking in.

Mine are doing this too, but don't seem to be in any distress. The smaller ones still stay under the brooder plate. Thanks to all who replied.
