Snake in hen house

Had a snake a week ago trying to get in the cage where hen is sitting on eggs. We killed the snake. Today, we checked on her like we do often in the day, and saw that she was going crazy running all about. There were 4 less eggs than in the morning. There are no openings in the cage. Just where the doors open and close. Just small cracks. Can snakes get in possibly, and will they eat eggs ? The eggs should be hatching in a week. Thanks for help. How to get rid of snakes. Should we get Guineas?

snakes can get into very tight spaces and can even climb better than you would think. They also love to eat eggs.
