I feel like losing trust in the breeder I purchased from. I live in a suburban type neighborhood with no roosters allowed and worked with this breeder with an auto-sexing breed but have discovered one is a rooster. Please tell me these speckled Sussex are not roosters too 😭 the two of them couldn’t get two really good pics, I’ll post more in the comments.

Curious as to how these turned out. Not sure if you check BYC often, but if I was looking I wouldn't be certain that either were any sex from pics.

Here’s more recent photos! I believe they are 10-11 weeks old. I check this page everyday actuallly lol. First time chicken keeper and I still questions if my Sussex are boys or girls. They’re both very sweet and smart. The tail feathers worry me and their combs are more pink than the pale they were a couple weeks ago. I’m like, when am I gonna get the sure sign of their gender?! Lol

Thank you very much for sharing! A lot of the time we don't get to see them. I wasnt as certain as some here that you had two pullets but I'd say without a doubt now that they will both lay eggs!

One thing that was holding me up was how much white is on that one gals chest. It certainly isn't any kind of a breed standard, but I have always noticed on SS's that the boys have much more white on their chest than girls. But yours certainly defys my farmers logic 😂

Anyway - best of luck to you in your flock adventures and God bless!

I am praying to the chicken Gods to pleeeease let them be girls! I have waited so long for chickens and now already one is a rooster (from another breed I have) Are you quite sure they’re both pullets?
