Speckled Sussex Pullets and Cockerels

Agreed- cockerel for sure. Here is my cockerel around the same time

I was afraid of that. All signs were pointing to cockerel but I kept trying to convince myself that he was not. Also ended up with a Columbian Wyandotte cockerel. Such a bummer when you pay for all female and 2 of the 5 end up being boys. I have had 2 other Roosters in the past and they always end up being mean a couple years down the road. Plus I live in the city and are not allowed have them but I have been luck with good neighbors and the “rooster collar” that did the trick.

I would agree for pullet- mine at 5 weeks was practically crowing and at 4 months we rehomed him.

keep others informed and post back as she grows!
We unfortunately had her humanely euthanized due to a developmental issue that affected her legs and she had gotten to where she couldn't walk. After I tried everything I could find on the internet and that vets had suggested, she only got worse. I couldn't stand to see her like that anymore.
Thank you all

This is my first year with Speckled Sussex, and they are very easy to sex by appearance. I named my cockerel Bilbo Toad because the name is funny, just like how he looks. A toad.
We have two speckled Sussex chicks. One is lighter and one is darker. Is that any indication of sex?

Great pics! How old? I knew mine was a Cockrell as soon as the breast feathers came in all white. Here he is at week (middle front) and then again at three weeks (to the left and back) the lighter one you have has the same Cockrell stance mine did at that age...
