I am getting ready to get started in raising quail. I have been raising chickens for several years, and just have to figure out what type to get.
I am getting ready to get a Genesis 1588 bator with the turner from G.Q.F. they have a package deal that comes with 30 bobwhite eggs. I have heard some people say that BW are not as easy as some of the others to raise. I really like eating BWs, but have never tried any of the others. I am strictly raising them to eat. I know a guy that raises Pharoah strictly for eggs. He pickles them. He said the birds were not that great to eat, and where small. I have not tried them personally.
I guess my question is this... what is a breed that is easy to raise, grows fairly quick, lays a lot of eggs, and is as good as a BW? Someone said A and M, but I just dont like the fact they are white.. just does not look natural. But if thats the better ones, thats what it will be.
Thanks for any input, and I am sure there are many opinions on this, but thats what I am looking for.
