NOLA farm
Chirping
I am new to all this. I built a large coop outfitted with interior and exterior space and plenty of it. We have a total of 8 hens of which two were purchased that had started laying.
White Brahma - this girl came laying to us. For 4 weeks she gave us an egg every other day and on the third egg of the week she would git another one the next day. As of Saturday she is now laying EVERY day. Not complaining actually but should I be concerned that an every other day layer is doing it daily or should I be proud?
French Maran - she too came to us laying every other day. Since Saturday she has not laid an egg. She is eating, bathing, roosting, and doing things the same just no egg.
Dominique - she was sold as a layer. The second day we had her there was a random egg on the ground and none of the chickens were talking about who laid it. That was 4 weeks ago and no other egg like this has arrived. Kind of a mystery.
Buff Brahma, Buff Orpington, Australorp, and two Easter Eggers were sold as non layers and that seems consistent.
With our mild winters in New Orleans do chickens still pause on laying eggs. If so do certain breeds become more affected by weather of the ones I mentioned?
Thanks in advance
