So I’ll see if anyone can tell now... I just want to know so bad and we can’t keep Roos.
They are about 10 wks but I wouldn’t be surprised if the two larger multi colored ones are a smidge older then the two more solid base color ones.
I have 2 group shots then a close up of the Black based comb. The grey based looks the same as her.
The two multi colored have me concerned. Small combs and wattles coming in. They are redder then the others when they are moving about.
Rounded neck feathers and no saddle feathers but they may still be too young. No charging each other or acting like my other roos I had to rehome already. So guess away....

I just got news that @KYTinpusher has passed away this last weekend unexpectedly. Not sure if she's been on the thread lately or not as I haven't watched it diligently.

Walli was a breeder of shf and SB's. I got many of my sfh from her. She was a great person and helpful all around. She'll be greatly missed.

:hugs
She will be missed. She was an avid information sharing person - so so sad to hear this...

Our adult SFH's hens have pretty decent sized wattles for a girl...
With rounded neck feathers - that's my key. Those would be girls.
Good luck! Wait for a crow or an egg....it's hard isn't it?!

I was hoping for this news. It is so hard to wait!! These guys are such sweeties too. We had 24 to pick from and if we managed to pick all girls I will be floored!!!

Thanks!!

We've got a SFH broody! Yippee!!!:wee

Now, to see if I can 'fake' her out on Sunday with brand new hatched SFH chicks from the county fair. Anyone ever try this with SFH?

(Annual county fair has a very large kids ag section showcasing a Cow and calf (born at the fair), hatching eggs, demonstration beehive and much, much more ("milk a fiberglass cow", etc.). We always contribute fertile eggs to hatch out so kiddos can see the different varieties of chicks, ducks, guineas, and this year quail too. This year, I only had SFH's eggs to share! So, off they went! Now I understand why....)
