We have just recently bought this turkey yesterday, which we noticed a build up of waste on the vent. We took him home and treated him as if it was pasty butt (wiping his vent down, as well as trying to get off all the stuck on waste).

This seemed to help better then letting it sit, however he has still strained to use the bathroom. He has still been able to squeeze some out, but it's either really strained or just a small bit. The vent area just generally seems irritated as well, maybe a bit swollen.

We've just wiped him down again while also applying a bit of Vaseline, and also giving him a little yogurt and sugar water.

Any help would be extremely appreciated!!

Looks like you are caring for the Poult really well.

You can soak the vent in a warm epsom salts bath to help reduce inflammation.
Vaseline is fine, but if you have anti-inflammatory cream to apply to the vent, that may also help with the swelling.

Work on hydration and eating. Offer a bit of wet feed if he's not drinking enough.

We had to clean him up a few more times but he seems to be doing a lot better, using the bathroom without straining as well!

Thank you for your help!:D (honorary picture of him puffing lol)
