they are 3 weeks old. What age I best to tell? I have 2 2 week old bresse also but they look like fluffy babies still.

By around 8-10 weeks, you can get quite a decent idea of the gender.

Hi everyone. I'm really new to chicken raising and these two are definitely my favorites. I can't have any roosters where I live and I'm a little unsure of what Lucy & Ethel are. I'm hoping they're pullets and I'm just being paranoid because I'm already attached to them! The picture where they're together they were about 3 weeks old and the separate ones were taken today at roughly 4 weeks old.

Ethel is a Buff Orpington and Lucy is a Rhode Island Red.

This is our California White Jessie, He/she is almost 4 weeks old so I am not sure if it's old enough to tell yet but thought I'd give it a try! (I posted it in another thread before I saw this one. ) I am guessing pullet myself but could be a roo and surprise us!

@Wfpendragon I think yours is a hen and in comparison my 4 week olds (posts #396 and 397) are both Roos. I know the breeds are different but mine definitely have color on thier combs and wattles already.
