The Joys of Owning Imported Orpingtons

Wow we are so excited we have been hatching mottleds of our original pair for months now but last night we took our first two mottled chicks from Louise at Autumn farms and they are just gorgeous.

Say hello to EDWARD, my 5 month old cockerel, he is jumping his ladies but is not trying to crow yet! I want to hatch their babies so i can have more!!! At what point would you say is a good point to start incubating (since they are only 2 weeks into their first eggs)?

we are trying to stay cool through our hot days... up to 90's and100's

I would wait until the eggs had reached full sized...If you manage to get pullet eggs to hatch... the chicks will be undersized.

Ok scrambled eggs it is then for awhile unless your my dad who cracks them and swallows them raw right at the nesting box (so gross)!
no thanks.... did you know if your chickens have certain kinds of worms.... that your dad could be ingesting them.... I think it is round worms but don't quote me on that.

what kind of Jubilee am i ???

here is a normal one...... pullet?

here is another shot of the odd one in the middle
