This is what I was going to say. Turnips like chilly weather. So maybe plant your late April after everything else in the garden is done. They like a light frost and sandy soil. I have hit or miss luck with them. Sometimes I plant slot and get a few. This year I have truckloads from one package of seed.

My ducks love the turnip greens and even the turnips, if i cut them into small enough cubes.

Simple question : roosters crow early in morning. Is there such a thing as a noisy duck early in the AM?

As long as i have not opened the door of the duck-run all my ducks are noisy in the morning!
Once they're out, most of them shut the duck up. - Except for the 13 teenage-ducks who are permanently babbeling.
