Successfully hatched 3! All doing fine:

Final results:
8 eggs, 2 never developed or quit really early, 3 quit somewhere around day 9-11, 3 healthy chicks. All were well packaged, but had detached air sacks from rough shipping, so I am considering it good.

I posted this on the Virginia thread, but thought I'd post here in case anyone knows. I currently have my 3 chicks from Orchard Hill Poultry and am looking to get 3 more locally in VA/WV from another line for diversity in breeding.

I don't know of any local breeders for you but this is a great list you have put together. I got my eggs from Cedarcrest farm and feed in Ohio. They did great on shipping, I had a wonderful hatch rate, and my birds are perfect! Good luck in your search.

Is this little one a Svart Hona? 9 weeks old today. If it is, what do I look for to tell hen or roo since the comb and waddles are black?

If it is a Svart, I'd guess it's a roo. His comb is already bigger than my Svart hen.
