Thinking of calling it quits.

I candled my first batch off eggs on my mixed pen.

Started out with 15. Had 4 clears. 11 eggs made
It to day 24 all had movement.

Lockdown tomorrow. Hope my luck is better on 25 - 28 days. Thats where my losses seem start.

So what happened feedman77 ?

My last lockdown today.
24 eggs and 10 making it to lockdown and 14 clear.
Its is the best percentage this year.

After this batch I am putting the incubators away and will have to see what the two hens can do for me.
They are sitting on around thirty eggs between the two.

Good luck on your upcoming hatch.

I will see if my luck holds out. I have a batch I will candle tonight then going to lockdown.

Then a batch next week. And one I just set. Because a hen had 22 eggs under her. I left her 6. But my other hens are helping her out she is back up to 18 last night. Shes solid broody now so ill just leave her alone and see how she does.

What's in the bators are my last attempts at turkeys for the year.

Had 14 in the incubator.
9 have made in to lockdown. All showed good movement.

5 that didn't make it died around day 18 as that was my last candle.

So here we go again but I have a good feeling for these after previous batch.

So any updates on the 10 that made it to lockdown.

I have 4 of my lockdown eggs pipped this morning.

One hatched by it self and I helped 6 more.
The one hatched by itself died plus two others.
4 alive right now with one looking week.
There were more malpositioned so looks like I am going to have to kill off the flock.

Sorry for another bad/stressful hatch.

You say gonna have to cull flock. Do you think its a genetic abnormalities in the adults causing the malpositioned poults and bad hatches.
