I have THREE beautiful ten week old hen-raised marans roosters. Two are black copper marans (one is very very sweet and the other isn't aggressive but not as affectionate, so first come first served), and the other is a splash marans. They are just starting to crow and sound like twelve year old boys in choir. The black coppers are french-style with feathered feet, while the splash is clean leg American style. They are all trained to come when you shake a cup of scratch, so they are hand tame. They have been raised on the starter from the Grange, and they nibble on clover and weeds from my yard. They free-ranged until they ate my tomatoes, but are now in a movable coop on the lawn (NO fertilizer, because their poop is good enough). If you have Ameraucana hens, the fertilized eggs from your hens and one of these roosters will hatch hens who lay olive eggers. For those who care, eye color for show is spot-on for two.
