Hello all,

It's been a while, though I've been lurking a fair bit. Thought I'd give a brief update on my two ponies. Which include a nice little pic spam. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Colonel Pickering:
- Started under saddle, doing well. Though, appears to have an old injury on his front right cannon area which is bothering him now. So I am saving money to get a vet out here for x-rays and possible ultrasound. At this point riding is being discontinued for light ground driving. I am crossing my fingers we won't need to retire him, but regardless of what happens he is with me for life.

BTW, I will never take on a horse with such wonky front legs ever again if I can help it. His bloodlines are exceptional, his parents were both extremely successful show horses (sire was GS Khochise) but I'm not sure where the tied in below the knee, over the knee, offset right cannon, rotated left knee, and shorter than usual left leg came from.

sigh. Speaking of that much shorter than usual left leg, he'll likely need a prescription shoe or wedge or something to help even 'im out.

Ah, my dear good fellow!

In these we were walking him to get the sweat cooled before blankies, hence the disheveled and sometimes annoyed appearance of the horse in question.

With my mum (he broke my foot that day so I had to relinquish my normal duty of Colonel Handler)

He is finally getting a booty! And you can sort of see the really pretty silver hairs which are rampant throughout it

His feet were caked in mud, hence odd appearance

Lilly and my mother continue to work toward their goal of showing in Western Pleasure this upcoming season.

Lilly is doing well. Sweet and willing, as usual! And getting a little buff lately. She's happy that she is now officially off her "diet" and gets bucket kibbles like everyone else (and lots more hay).
She seems to really look forward to their work outs, though.

Well, I hope you enjoyed, and are not too irritated that I felt like showing them off a bit today.

lol I have no idea. It was something my mother originally wanted to do with Lilly, but she's not too sure she wants to pursue it at this point. However, we have got an invitation to go on a cattle drive with some friends this summer which will span several days (and nights). That's sort of like an endurance ride! ha. Lilly will likely go, but I'll need to borrow a quarter horse. At this point I'm not sure how much riding will be in my gelding's future...but I guess we'll find out soon enough.
