Vermont

Hi, Bristol area folks! It's been a while since I've been on the Vermont thread; nice to see more people here from VT, and from my area. I live in Lincoln with my husband. I have 7 hens from 3 years ago, and am just introducing a new bunch of 26. So far so good.

The new ones are:

Buff Laced Polish
White Silkie Bantams
Cuckoo Marans (Black)
Golden Campine
Columbian Wyandotte
Araucana
and one unknown.

Yup Bristol here!

We are having a great summer with the Black Copper Marans.....A few Blue Copper too. I've hatched out sooo many roosters but plan on putting most in the freezer.

Lots of broody hens down here how about up in Lincoln?

No broody ones at the moment. If I don't pick up the eggs every day, then one of the sex links likes to sit on them, but these days they seem so happy just to get outside into the grass and the garden!

Good luck with your roos! I might be interested in some of your Maran chicks some day - hoping to avoid roos, though.

let me know if you ever want chicks or eggs for hatching... maybe someday I could toss some pullets/hens your way if I don't think they fit my breeding program. Sounds so offical when you say you have a "breeding program" doesn't it!

Will do!

beware of the pasty butt!

Just lost my last Silver Laced Hamburgs to cocci.

Glad I have Corid on hand, and plenty of good local yogurt with lots of beneficial organisms, but not enough to save her. Everyone else, including the 26 chicks, are fine (treating everyone).
