Here's ours before the chicks moved in. It's plywood with a 1 x 2 lip around the edges. Half sand, half PDZ. Super easy to scoop, never any smell. Nineteen chickens, and they all use the one side. The last photo is of the separation pen for chicks or bachelors, w/ a manual pop door underneath.

Edited to add: did you want a POOPY picture? I'll have to wait til the morning, but I can do that. ;)

I bought full sheet size baking sheets at Costco and I scrape them off with a metal spackle knife that hangs on the coop wall. They sit on what looks like another set of roosts, not a solid shelf, which allows for ventilation. Sometimes I keep 1st Sat. Lime/PDZ/Espresso Grinds on the trays, but I can also just leave them bare. Stuff dries right out and I scrape it clean into a bucket. I also like that I can slide them out, take them outside to scrub and sanitize in the sun once a season and nothing gets permanently hidden in some corner. (this image happens to have been taken with night sight camera)

I don't have a board, but I do have cement mixing tubs filled with straw under my chickens' roost. Keeps the sheep out of the poopiest area and I can dump them into the compost when they're full.

The upper grade kids had some shine stashed outside.
I had some stashed in a gator ade bottle. My husband was worried our grandson would try to drink it so he put it in a pretty Russian vodka bottle I had but it wouldn't all fit. So he drank the rest! I have never seen him so toasted nor so hung over as he was the next day. He calls it jet fuel.
