Well I DID IT!! Pithing vs. Hatchet.... Graphic pics****

My hubby skinned ours too but he skinned the whole bird, not just cutting out the breasts thighs and legs. It went really fast and easy. That way the rest of the carcass wasn't wasted, used it today to make stock for tortilla soup!

Not sure I get what pithing is...

I am sure that I will learn one way or another...

and I must admit that the pictures made me break out in a bit of a sweat... that is not good if I plan on doing this myself one day... LOL

I am so glad you posted pics of your set-up....I am butchering in a week and this is the first time...did not know for sure just what direction to go. I am not familiar with pithing. New at the meat end of things. I have not problem with any of it except the actual beheading. I loved science and disecting in school so that part does not bother me. I wonder if the "mystery" organ is a gall bladder? Did you vut it open?
