What are daytime Predators?

Hi! :frow

Congratulations on your chickens, and good luck! :) May you have as much fun with them as we do!

I live in Tennessee, and our daytime predators are:

Cats
Dogs
Coyotes
Hawks
Snakes

Personally, I feel my own dogs are more dangerous than hawks since I have a top on the run, but for free ranging, hawks.

Our night predators:

Cats
Dogs
Coyotes
Owls
Hawks
Raccoons
Opossum
Bobcat
Badger
Black Bear
Humans
Skunks
Fox

This isn't to say that said animals only hunt at day or night, is just what is most common. Further up state, I'd have to watch for weasel, too. I don't have baby chicks, so I don't have to worry about smaller birds or rats stealing chicks (eggs, however...) either. :)

Here in Arizona your most troublesome daytime predators will be coyotes, dogs, hawks and bobcats. Common nighttime predators include coyotes, bobcats, raccoons, great horned owls, dogs and skunks. Depending on where you live you may also have bears and mountain lions at any time of day or night. Be sure to drop in and say hello on our BYC Arizona thread!
