Egghead77; they are very friendly and lay light to a bit dark brown eggs. My rooster though, for some reason, has begun to be quite protective of his girls - even towards me! I take care of them day n day out so not sure what's up with him. I'm getting a hold of him [for 2 nights n row - 3 tonight] and carrying him around with me in my arm for a short period. I'm gonna do this for a week or two and see if that doesn't calm him down. The boy and girls have been with me for about 6-7 months now - hmm, maybe 8In my experience, Speckled Sussex are wonderful birds! They are good layers, very friendly, and curious.
