What Breed of Duck Should I Get?

I've only had experience with Indian Runners, as I'm new to raising ducks, so they are definitely my second for you. They're relatively flightless, small, not so noisy, but still great egg layers. Also, they and the Welsh Harlequins are listed as 'recovering' in the US, so if you're looking to breed any ducks, you could help a really cool duck breed to thrive here.

From your list, though, I've read good things about Khaki Cambells.

I've certainly done my staring at pictures of pretty magpies! I would like to get some someday, but am limited on my total bird number, due to my small yard and city ordinances. If I ever get the chance to buy a more rural homestead property, though... oh boy, the ducks will reign!

I am going to try and call the hatchery today and see what they have available and then try and decide from there.

I had a Silver Appleyard duck as shown above and she was the sweetest girl there was. They are gorgeous and I wish she was still with us. Sadly a dog took her from us. I voted SA!

Quick update: I just called the hatchery and they said they have a few Saxonys and Magpies available the week I want them. So it's either Saxonys or Magpies! I will most likely do Saxony but maybe 1 of each???? What are your opinions?

Either of those breeds would be good but my heart would be with the Magpies lol
