What color are your cayuga eggs?

My friend is saying my Cayugas are mixed because they aren't laying jet black eggs. I get dark grey, light grey, greenish, and sometimes white eggs from my two ladies.

I have 3 hens and a drake, sadly my fourth hen died a little while ago.

My eggs are invisible because they haven't started laying yet :(. Am starting to think they may not lay this year but start in the spring.
I check their bedding daily and drain their pond once a week to see if anyone decided to lay in the water.

I have gotten 4 Cayuga eggs from my newly laying hens. They have all been very white in color. They are a little dirty.

Cayuga eggs vary from black, grey, light green, and white. They are typically darker towards the beginning of the laying season and get lighter in color as time goes on. So your eggs are perfectly normal, and that is 100% a Cayuga duck. Definitely not a mix. ;)

Aerie,
Love my Cayugas:
700

When my girls start laying, their eggs begin smaller and near black in color. Once they get into their "groove", the eggs are slightly larger than a jumbo chicken and light grey in color.

Enjoy,
Rich
