What did you do in the garden today?

Just got the property tax bill for this year, Ho Ho Ho. UGH
It went up $1000.
$5000 of my $7,200 bill goes to the school here, which I have never had kids at, will never have kids at, and on top of paying annually for a system we don't use, paid out of pocket for private schooling for my own child since they are such a terrible school system.

The county JUST opened a casino, which is pumping $800,000 in TAX revenue a MONTH into the county that is supposed to help offset property tax amounts. My bill had better go down next year. This is ridiculous, $600 a month for property taxes!

Ugh. My youngest was born autistic and I'll never forget one time when she was little. I'd taken her into a gift shop and she got upset because I wouldn't let her have something she wanted. So I tossed her over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes and carried her kicking, screaming and biting right out and to the car. She was still non-verbal back then so I never heard her thoughts about it...but she never did that again. It was mortifying, but I would have been more ashamed had she gotten what she wanted by acting that way.
She's a wonderful young adult now that any mother would be proud of. Helpful, thoughtful, loving, confident, with good self control. I feel sorry for that woman's son.

That was probably an overshare, but Oooo your post pushed some buttons!

If it makes you feel better, I'm not autistic and my mother loves to remind me of a story from when I was young. I'm not sure what my meltdown was over but I apparently laid down on the floor in the store and just let it all out, lol. Some lady walked up to say something about poor parenting and my Mom chatted with her, agreeing, basically acting like she wasn't my Mom but then picked me up off the floor after the conversation and hauled me out over her shoulder. 😅 Apparently the other woman was pretty stunned. She was the ultimate Mom by the way. I was just being rotten for some unknown reason.
My daughter never put me through anything like that but she did throw up in my dinner plate when she was a baby at a VERY expensive restaurant at a wedding reception. (Smells used to make her sick very easily and I guess the $75 plate of food didn't live up to her delicate senses) Lol, I think every kid is bound to have that unavoidable embarrassing moment no matter their situation.

My baby nephew took out his petter and did it on the floor when he didn't get his way and his mother spoke to him kindly and wiped up the mess. This couple uses a do not hit or spank child theory. This child goes to his grandma's house, digs his nose and wipes it any ware he feels like. He also, gave his pre school teacher a hard time, when the class is told its time to sleep, he doesn't listen. He plays when the rest of the class is sleeping and disrupts the class. The school told his parents they may need to expel him.

His father (Also my nephew) called me the other day and wants to bring his child for a visit to experience nature. I will probably encourage him to plant something.

Good luck! I bet it will be a really good experience for him to do that with you. Maybe send him home with a plant to be responsible for?

Let me give you a heads up right now, the entire 'the casino pays for education' is a total line of bullshit.

Florida does the same thing, oh the lottery proceeds go directly to Education, it' helps the CHILDREN !!!!!! But what they don't tell you is, pretty much every dollar they pay the schools out of lottery earnings, the do NOT pay them out of the general fund. So the normal 50 million that would have been slated for the schools, goes to some dirty politicians pork project, because 'the lotteyr' picks up the schools now. It's a big dope deal, so NO don't expect taxes to go down at all, just expect more welfare programs for the parasites to buy votes with.

I just came back from the village to grab some zippers from the charity shop (I was out).
And the child that was in there needed a good, well, we wouldn't be sitting down for a week had any of us pulled this.
He was screaming at the top of his lungs at his mom (he was 9 ish) "I didn't get ANYTHING I wanted for Christmas and I'm not leaving without this chair!" (gaming floor chair) "It's ONLY $40! $40 mom. That's nothing!"
It was all I could do to bite my tongue.
Obviously he got that way from her fine upbringing, but dang!
OC they left with the chair.

(Yes, I found zippers)
I ran across one cute little CG like that once a teenager. I told the little sob, you know what, the law says I can't hit you, but a slap is considered discipline, not assault, so I can slap you and if you don't shut your little ba#%$%$ mouth Ill slap you so hard your grandkids are going to be born with the slapmark on their faces and gave him my soon to be patented evil eye. Kid turned pale as a ghost and shut up. Mom mouthed thank you to me on the way out of the store. I didn't reply, I wanted to slap her too for letting that little brat get away with that!!!

SPoiled little brats grow up to be spoiled adults, screaming the same way. You tube is full of them throwing tantrums, usually when the police ask them to do something and almost always after being tased...

Oh my lord Wthr that is robbery in my book.. How do they expect old folks to pay that ?
They expect that by the time you're old, that you'll have it all paid off and you won't need to pay anything but your property insurance (forget utilities, medical, animal feed, cars/gas/tuneups, and food). Or they expect you to sell it all and move somewhere smaller and let the young have your place.
Honestly, I don't know how the 30s/early 40 somethings are surviving up here. They all have multiple children and mortgages of at LEAST $2500 a month PLUS that payment towards tax, PLUS insurance and that's just the cost of the house and not everything else involved in life.
