What did you do in the garden today?

They expect that by the time you're old, that you'll have it all paid off and you won't need to pay anything but your property insurance (forget utilities, medical, animal feed, cars/gas/tuneups, and food). Or they expect you to sell it all and move somewhere smaller and let the young have your place.
Honestly, I don't know how the 30s/early 40 somethings are surviving up here. They all have multiple children and mortgages of at LEAST $2500 a month PLUS that payment towards tax, PLUS insurance and that's just the cost of the house and not everything else involved in life.
Yep. It's 🐂 💩

My baby nephew took out his petter and did it on the floor when he didn't get his way and his mother spoke to him kindly and wiped up the mess. This couple uses a do not hit or spank child theory. This child goes to his grandma's house, digs his nose and wipes it any ware he feels like. He also, gave his pre school teacher a hard time, when the class is told its time to sleep, he doesn't listen. He plays when the rest of the class is sleeping and disrupts the class. The school told his parents they may need to expel him.

His father (Also my nephew) called me the other day and wants to bring his child for a visit to experience nature. I will probably encourage him to plant something.

good luck! I hope he will not destroy your beautiful plants.

I just came back from the village to grab some zippers from the charity shop (I was out).
And the child that was in there needed a good, well, we wouldn't be sitting down for a week had any of us pulled this.
He was screaming at the top of his lungs at his mom (he was 9 ish) "I didn't get ANYTHING I wanted for Christmas and I'm not leaving without this chair!" (gaming floor chair) "It's ONLY $40! $40 mom. That's nothing!"
It was all I could do to bite my tongue.
Obviously he got that way from her fine upbringing, but dang!
OC they left with the chair.

(Yes, I found zippers)
Someone needs an ass whipping.

Good luck with him.

No issues like that here. I tell the grandkids if both bathrooms are full to just go outside and pee. At first they looked at me like I was speaking some foreign language lol. I said fine, pee your pants but you’re cleaning up the mess. That took care of it.

Let me give you a heads up right now, the entire 'the casino pays for education' is a total line of bullshit.

Florida does the same thing, oh the lottery proceeds go directly to Education, it' helps the CHILDREN !!!!!! But what they don't tell you is, pretty much every dollar they pay the schools out of lottery earnings, the do NOT pay them out of the general fund. So the normal 50 million that would have been slated for the schools, goes to some dirty politicians pork project, because 'the lotteyr' picks up the schools now. It's a big dope deal, so NO don't expect taxes to go down at all, just expect more welfare programs for the parasites to buy votes with.

So true. We’re surrounded by casinos here but the schools still have no money. They’re not worth it here though, the teachers want more and more money for fewer and fewer days of actual work. When I was a kid most teachers had a summer job to supplement their income. Now? Nope, they deserve to be paid for the whole year but work maybe six months with all the time off for holidays and all their breaks and “in service days”

Warm up starts today. I have been watching garden videos and planning what to buy. Planning to try grafting pecan and hican onto hickory nut saplings growing wild on my place. My woodlot is on a dry clay hill. Not good for pecan but fine for hickory as a rootstock.
What is hican?

It’s raining here, should clear out for the most part until Sunday with just slight rain chances for the next few days. It’s not a gulley washer at least so it’s soaking in. I ordered two more Arabian lilacs, one to replace the one on the side of the house and one more for the front yard. I’ll be taking all the fruit trees out after the first of the year, don’t think I’m replacing them with more fruit trees. I’m just not good with them it seems, except for lemons, I do ok with those. I also figure it’s less work for me, I would be the one having to deal with all the fruit and I just don’t have the time. The Vitex are looking rough, I think it got too cold and that’s what damaged them, hopefully they’ll recover, we need shade out there in the worst way. The credit I get from the trees I’ll use to buy some understory plants for the front yard.
