Your bird is stunning!!! I am a person that likes to take on a challenge and am looking for a new project. I am in love with the "Calico" and thought I would give it a try. If anyone has Calicos that they want to rehome, please let me know. I'm interested.

I have a young hen in a sort of Splash Calico of sorts. First she was mostly white then black and gray streaks started showing up and one morning there was tan and it just kept coming, it is still pretty faint or lightly tinted.

Hello Silkie Lovers,

I just got a few silkies and wonder if this is what you would call "calico" or "tortoise shell" colored? Any ideas on the sex of this bird? It seems to like to lay around in the corners of the yard and coop. The comb appears to be mostly flat and dark. I am not sure about there being streamers from the head though, and the pretty tail looks a tad longer than some of my hens. I was told it was hatched in November, but I think its older than that. Hmmm. Any ideas guys?

Looks like calico to me, which is splash with autosomal red. Tortoise Shell is Grey with autosomal red. . . At least that is my understanding :) I'm not sure about girl or boy but it is pretty!

Hi All!
I have stumped some people with my new Silkie and I stumbled upon this post. I fell in love with this girl and was lucky enough to bring her home. Is she a Calico? No body seems to know what she is :( I think she is beautiful :) She still needs a name!

I have a gray with red leakage and was told to call it tortoiseshell

I've seen other pics of birds with coloring similar to him and they were calling it calico...

What do you breed him to if you don't have any grays?

Hi I am Sylvia and I am new to chickens but want to raise them in my back yard. I just bought a house with 1/2 an acre and can't wait to start collecting my own eggs. I am in the Lynnwood area and would love to know more about your bird.
