What exactly is the defenition of a Pullet?

Please don't be confused here. Day old chicks are pullets and cockerals, however the ability to sex them at that age is only 95% accurate.

Hope that made sense....

a pullet is a female chicken under 1 year old:, then it is called a hen after she is 1 year and I do believe that pullets may lay a lot of eggs but they are small, and after their first molt the eggs will be bigger and so it goes as the hen gets older

A yellow-legged pullet will have bleached shanks after she's laid enough eggs to rob some of this pigment. Other areas that bleaching occurs: eye rings, beak, and vent.

actually this is not a you say tomato I say tomahto when it comes to showing birds.

AS someone has already stated to the APA show world
copied right out of the American Standard of Perfection 1998
Glossary of Technical Terms

cockerel: a male fowl less than one year old
cock: a male fowl one year old or more
hen: a female fowl. for exhibition purposes, a female chicken or turkey one year old or more.
pullet: for exhibition purposes, a female fowl less than one year old.

The word rooster is not in the Glossary .

For anyone not interested in showing birds -

I direct you to our learned colleague who said quote "tomato tomahto"

or in the words of that ancient sage "opinions are like a_____ everyone has one"

Female day 1 to 1 year Pullet
Male day 1 to 1 year Cockerel
Female over 1 year Hen
Male over 1 year Cock
Rooster is simply a slang term for a male chicken
But then again it's your chicken I guess you can call it anything you want.
