What genes are at play here? Royal Palm

I have this beautiful turkey I hatched from Royal Palm eggs I bought on ebay last year. As expected they started all white as chicks, but now the hens look like normal royal palms and the three toms became a lot darker in color than what you'd expect from a Royal Palm.

So, are here other genes at play or is this just something that might come up if you don't select for the typical pattern?

He's a Black-Winged Narragansett (semi-gray).
So he basically has an additional gene, compared to a Royal Palm (C/cg vs. cg/cg).
