I am always hearing people talk about their Olive Eggers, and I was just wondering what they are. My guess is that they are a mix between an americana and a dark egg laying breed? Am I right?

They are a cross between a blue egg-laying bird and a dark "chocolate" brown egg-laying bird. Usually folks use an Easter Egger hen and a Marans cock to do the job. That is the most common cross I believe.

The classic is an easter egger or true ameraucana and a marans or welsummer. I have a few hens that lay olive eggs from an ee/regular brown cross. My ds 14 calls them camo eggs lol.
