What killed my duck? Warning: Graphic

[Chillen with the quacks]

This is the 4th duck dead in the past week. I found my runner duck after my nightly walk dead and in tact about 5 feet away from my porch. I have no idea what is killing them. There is a bite mark on the back of her neck and injuries on her side. Help me identify whats killing my bird! I am in the southwestern part of MS.

Poor thing.
I'm not sure what did kill it, but I wonder if it was a dog. If a dog goes on a killing spree they often leave the bodies since they're only killing for sport.
Do you have secure housing for your ducks? They ought to be penned up until you figure out what's going on so that you can make changes to keep them safe.

If you live near water I suspect you have a mink or maybe a weasel killing your ducks.They'll bite their prey on the neck like this .I hope you have plans to lock them up somewhere safe until you can kill or trap whats killing them. Whatever it is will be back.

I's hard to say what specific predator it was. My advice is to put up a camera then you should know for sure what the predator is because it will be back. I have posted some inexpensive cameras that should work if you don't already have one. Good luck...
