Different markets, different prices. The same goes for locations near urban/suburban areas versus "out in the country".
Farmers market prices in my area (near northern Virginia) can vary from $4.00-$6.00 per dozen. Since my approach is pastured, no hormones, & no antibiotics, I could get these prices but I sell to neighbors and others for $3.50/ dozen and to a farm-to-table restaurant for $3.00/dozen. For me it is more important to move the eggs and get a reasonable price that helps cover feed costs. Feed costs in our area likewise are certainly higher than many others with 50 pound bags that sell for 15.00-16.50/bag.
