What to do for egg bound?

Thankfully I don't have an egg bound yet. But want to know what to do if one of my birds has one. I've never had to deal an egg bound egg and hope to never have to. But since it's always possible I want to be prepared.
1. How to I know?
2. How do I take care of it?
