We have a young rooster (white orpington - hatchery) who has always had loud breathing. He has always seemed to be perfectly healthy, his comb looks normal, poop is normal, eating layer feed for a few weeks (we were transitioning from a higher protein diet during the winter and moulting). The coop is clean and well ventilated - no odors of ammonia etc. He's suddenly hoarse and very noisy breathing, crow not normal anymore. As he's 'talking' to his ladies he's got quite noisy inhale sound now. Is this a respiratory illness? Or did he strain his voice?
