White leg horns help

We are having to get rid of two chicks because they are roosters and im sad about it, however we cannot have any where we live. Our plan when we got them was they were going to be laying hens for abouy a year or two then we replace them. We have explained to our kids that they will eventually be food.

Our chickens are also our pets. The kids are constantly with them, carrying them around, and finding bugs and worms for them. My girl sings to them daily and my son helps treat them when they are sick. We are raising them for eggs only and they know this. They also know things may happen I.e. disease, etc. Altogether, still sad.

They both look like cockerels to me.

Leah567, you are correct! Both are indeed cockerels. Their combs and wattles are growing redder and larger. My husband says we can keep one or possibly both b/c we lost one of our 3 year old WL hens yesterday to what we think was a hawk. Hoping the roo or Roos will help ward off predators.
